Each afternoon the waterfront of Pondicherry, India, is full of people getting out of the heat of the town. It is a daily event; taking children to play, meeting at the end of the day, or just walking the beach. I found the people in India to be sincerely intimate; they don’t make small talk, but express real interest, even in strangers. These two women represented both the sense of community and the intimacy of the people.
